A Rising Star In the MLB?

If you haven't heard of this guy yet, you definitly need to. Emilio Bonifacio is the fastest growing star right now in the MLB. A 3B for the Florida Marlins, and is a star. There are three reasons why Bonifacio is this. First, is his explosive start this year. Second, is his incredible speed. Third, is that he has people to look up to on his own team.

Emilio has an incredibly explosive start in this 2009 season for the Marlins. Right now, he is ranked number one out of all third basemen in hitting, and number 3 overall in hitting. In fielding, he has a .900 fielding percentage so far. As for his stats, he has a .485 batting average, with 33 at bats and 16 hits. 13 of those hits being singles, 1 double, 1 triple, and 1 home run. Emilio has a slugging percentage of .667. Bonifacio has If you are into fantasy baseball, like myself, Emilio has 77 fantasy points so far, and is among the leagues best. Emilio can put up big numbers, and he most likely will be all season long.

Hitting isn't the only thing that Emilio is succesful at, he also has amazing speed. As I mentioned earlier he has 1 home run. That home run just happens to be a inside the park home run. I couldn't find a good video clip of his home run, but the picture above shows his good fielding. Besides that, Emilio also leads the NL in stolen bases with 4. Check out clips on youtube to see for yourself how speedy this young third baseman can be.

Emilio fits perfectly with the Florida Marlins, his speed, his bat control, etc, and has a player even on his team that he could work toward to be like. That player obviously is Hanley Ramirez. Rookie of the Year, and now one of the big name players in Major League Baseball. He has a .333 batting average, with one steal, two homeruns, 1 double, etc. With a player like Hanley Ramirez on his team, Emilio should be able to become a big name player in the MLB a little bit easier.

If you didn't know Emilio Bonifacio before, you definitly should now. Also, you will be hearing a lot about him soon if he keeps on playing like he is right now. With his explosive start this season, his lightning speed, and his role model in Hanley Ramirez, Emilio won't have problems putting up numbers like he is. Just to let everyone know, I am not a Marlins fan, and I still find this player to be just amazing.
